Franco Parodi December 15, 1944 - June 8, 2010

Our beloved Franco passed away at 5.00 pm this afternoon.
He suffered too much and we are very grateful that he is at peace.
We are inconsolably sad and feel lost.
He was such a good friend, the best kind of friend. The kind that gives everything and asks nothing.

We love you, Franco.

Dear Di, I am so so sorry. Tears run down my cheeks as I read this. I know how much he has meant to you. I am happy that he is no longer suffering but know how difficult this must be for you and for his family. xoxo

My heart just sank when I read this. I'm so sorry to hear about Franco. People like him don't come around that often. How wonderful it was that you both crossed paths and you shared your friendship with all of us. Thank you for doing that. My condolences, Di. Siete nei miei pensieri.

So sorry. I know you wouldn't have made it through winter before last without him. I don't mean in any way to reduce him to that, but just to acknowledge how willing and ready he was to work work work for his own family, and then come work work work for you -- not because you asked, but because he knew you needed it. What a lovely lovely man, I feel we all have had a privilege in "knowing" a bit of him because of you.

Since I just discovered your blog I have not read earlier about Franco.
May he be in peace.

May you be in peace with life, you've known him.

My Friends,

I thank each and every one of you for your condolences. The funeral was today, and was nothing short of amazing. About five hundred people in attendance. We are deeply comforted by the friends, including you all, and former guests who have written to us. The family needs rest now after three months of in-house care that have left them drained, numb, and exhausted.

Our valley will have to find away to go on. And we will. For him. For Franco.
