Renovation: The Stairs, Revisited

The stairs have been finished. I am over the moon about how they came out. The 150 year old tiles look gorgeous. When I get every little bit of grout off of them, I will seal them so that the colors are brilliant, and then the vertical sides of the steps will be painted a soft color.

Wow, they look great, Diana! Excellent work as always :)

P.S. Make sure you stop by Goat Berries as I've announced the kids' names :D

This must certainly help you get over the disappointment in having to cover the original stairs. LOVE the deep colors and intriguing pattern of these gloriously rich old tiles.

Those tiles are gorgeous. When you paint the verticals, the staircase will be an artwork all itself.

As the others have already said they look stunning, and hopefully, as Mary wrote, they make up for the disappointment of loosing the old ones.

Hi Diana, Great application of your beautiful and old tiles. I remember seeing them last September and knew that they would become an important design element for your new guest house.
Are those black bullnose tiles at the end of each tread? Looks fabulous!

Cara Diana,
Sigh! You found the most beautiful antique tiles. A déjà vue. Took me back to our hotel in the mountains of Sardinia. Pretty much the same pattern. Stupendo! So beautiful, Diana. Now you can call yopurself Signora Pavimentista. Gosh you are really a Jaco of all trades! Is there anything you cannot master? Bacione e buon week-end! Ingrid in Umbria

Beautiful work. The perfect way to honor the ancient stairs you discovered but were not able to keep as is.
