It was freezing. Again. Cold and damp. Snow and ice everywhere. We needed a break.
We drove thirty five miles, over the mountains. It got worse before it got better. At the top, two feet of snow, with mountains of it piled high left and right.
Then, things changed. Dramatically. The temperature climbed, degree for degree. We shed scarves, hats, gloves, coats as we drove.
And suddenly we were there. Only an hour later. Thirty five miles. Seems incredible, doesn't it?

Bellissima.
I can't believe the different..only 35 miles?
The forecast here calls for rain starting tomorrow and lasting for a week. Sigh.
Incredible....just what you needed.
The sun and the sea ..Bliss!
What a great break from the winter doldrums! You are so close, but the drive sounds treacherous in the snow.
That sea is so blue -- we are looking forward to our return, but we'll be on the Cote d'Azur in May.

I like this spirit. Rather than wallow in the chill and let your thoughts turn negative, you hopped on a ride for bluer pastures;-)
ooooh I have to go. So cold here. Is your place on route or a different direction?
Thxs for sharing.
Sue, I will be contacting you this week! Sorry I have been out of touch. The weather is really getting to me. Our place is en route to Liguria, for sure.
It was a great (too short) break to see the beautiful sun for a day. We really, really need some rays. Ragazza, we are getting more snow while you get the rain.
double sigh!!
Anne, you need to get to Liguria again, don't you think?
Cameron, oh, it's so lovely over there. I am heading to Nice to do some furniture shopping for our new guest room.
Lydia, well, you know, I will go a long way for a little inspiration:)
Cara Diana,
Ci sarĂ brutto tempo. Again! Now you know where to go. Enjoy! LOVELY photo, cara! Wish I could go with you.... Bacione, Ingrid in Umbria
Ah i love Albissola. I went there a couple years back and lost all my pictures when the hard drive crashed. It was a real shame. I think this is the best time of year to go - the sandy beaches are empty and you can see all the ceramics and mosaics without having to battle with a million other people. Thanks for sharing your lovely pictures :)
Ah... you make us homesick... glad you got a dose of sun and sea, so good for the spirits.
I want to go to there. It is astounding that there is only 35 miles between snow and that bliss.
