Market Day 7.24.09 Acqui Terme

Honey from my neighbor Maria Sciutto,  along with Robiola DOP goat cheese, aged to creamy perfection.

Perfect zucchini flowers

Roma Tomatoes for making sauce

Greens stand, to the left coriander, to the right portulak

These are two of the sweetest vendors in the whole place.

Portulak, up close and personal.  It is eaten as a salad and resembles a cross between spinach and water cress.

My market booty.

Food shopping takes on a whole new meaning at the farmers' market. I remembered to bring my camera this time, and shoot some of the products and people that make market day so enjoyable.

::sigh:: It's the best farmers market I've been to, ever. I was discussing tomatoes and sauce-making on Thursday with Romeo next door, and we agreed that Roma tomatoes were the best--but they aren't in yet at his store. I'm sure we'll be making sauce as soon as they're ready...

Thank you for the CT Style shoutout!

It looks like a great day at the market! Someone is going to be eating well for awhile.

Have a great weekend!

I love a good market. Karen and I lie low until the August crowds disappear. September and we visit weekly.

I love market photos! Even better... being the one at the market to buy all the great produce!

PS We've booked an apartment in Antibes next May, but we'll have one grown son and his girlfriend along. Of course, they WANT to be there during the crowds of Cannes Film Festival and the Grand Prix. I will not act the old stick-in-the-mud and embrace the excitement, right? LOL Who knows, maybe I'll drive a Ferrari, too! :-)

The fruits and veggies are just beautiful - like works of art!

I am not crazy about grocery shopping, but I love farmers markets.

I've never heard of Portulak. Sounds interesting....

I miss eating zucchini flowers. They are so hard to find here, if not at all. My nonna Bettina used to make the best fritelle. Mmmmmm. I can still taste them.
